Register Open entry point


You can also open the register from the navigation menu:

Cash Management > Cash Register > Register Open

  1. When you click Register Open, the system will allow to select any closed register at the store.

After you select one of the registers, the Register Open screen is presented.

Count the full amount in the register, including any deposit amount from the safe. You can either count the cash using the denominations, or by entering the full amount in the Amount field.


Note: 

The field “Deposit from safe” will show only if the license you are using includes the Safe Management module.  


When you click Continue, the system will show the following pop-up for user authentication:

MT-POS can be configured to suppress the authentication prompt when the currently logged in sales rep has the necessary access permission.

When you click Continue, the count is recorded and cannot be canceled, and the register is opened. If a discrepancy is identified, the following pop-up will require to specify a reason code and memo. 

The user does not have an option to go back and correct the data input.

Register left open from the previous day

When a register was left open on the previous day, and you wish to use that register, a popup will appear to suggest closing it. Register Name, Date & Time, and UserID will be displayed.

Note: 

Only the user that opened the register or a manager can close the register.


In exceptions scenario where any balance is left from previous day:

  1. If you count an amount which is greater than the previous day's balance left in the till, the difference is considered float deposited from safe.
  2. If you count an amount which is smaller than the previous day's balance left in the till, the difference is considered as discrepancy and will be recorded as an adjustment in MT-POS.
